Seattle’s Underground Water Line Requirements
Seattle has several requirements for your underground water lines and water mains. Here are a few you should keep in mind:
- The connection of your pipes must be to the city’s union only.
- All outside water pipelines must have at least 2 feet of ground covering from all angles.
- All work must be in compliance with the up-to-date Uniform Plumbing Code.
- Water lines must be brass, copper SS, DI, CPVC, PE, PEX, HDPE or PVC. Plastic pipe (which isn’t approved through the foundation) must have pipe that is studded out with 2 feet of an approved material.
